This is basically how I feel about relationships and the road between high school and my wedding day. I think this would be an excellent song for a first dance at my wedding reception.
Rascal Flatts: Bless The Broken Road
I set out on a narrow way many years ago
Hoping I would find true love along the broken road
But I got lost a time or two
Wiped my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you
Every long lost dream lead me to where you are
Others who broke my heart they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you
I think about the years I spent just passing through
I'd like to have the time I lost and give it back to you
But you just smile and take my hand
You've been there you understand
It's all part of a grander plan that is coming true
Every long lost dream lead me to where you are
Others who broke my heart they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you

Interesting song. I need to hear the actual song I think. But the idea is the one we've been taught all through young womens is it not? The idea that you date people to understand what works well with your personality and what doesn't. Things that we put on that list of essential characteristics in Beehives is either backed up or scratched off the list. Things that we may have thought important at one time may not seem important in someone who is minus that characteristic.
What I think is an interesting question that this kind of idea leads to is do people change us? Because you've dated someone are you different then if you hadn't? If you hadn't ever have gotten close to certain key people in your life would you be the same?
It's a winner!, and it suits you perfectly :)
